The brief

A golden-autumn wedding: Burki Castle, Kakheti, the tenth of October, around forty guests. The castle above the vineyards was taken whole — from getting ready in its interiors to dinner on the terrace.

The wish was a calm day without pomp: a place with a character of its own, a narrow circle, live music in the evening.

October set the main condition — a short day. Light became the axis of the timeline: the ceremony, the couple's walk and the turn to music were all counted from it.

The making

The morning was left to the castle. Preparations happened in its own interiors: the stone staircase, the turquoise ironwork balcony, vineyards to the horizon. A building with this much character needs no extra decoration, so we added none in the morning: the house, the light and an unhurried start.

The ceremony left the formal grounds for the working vineyard: guests stood among the vines, an old tree became the altar. The hour was chosen by the light. In October the Kakhetian sun drops low toward evening, and for one last warm hour the vineyard turns gold; the vows were set for that hour, and there, between the rows, the couple was showered with confetti.

The month dictated the palette: lemons and yellow florals on white linen, the same colour as the leaves outside. When a place already has a colour of its own, the decor's job is to agree with it, not to argue.

Between the ceremony and dinner the couple walked the estate path to an old stone church. The pause is written into the timeline on purpose: a wedding day moves fast, and a little quiet together matters in it no less than the music.

The early October sunset was treated as part of the dramaturgy. With darkness, lanterns came on across the terrace and the evening turned to music: a live band with a saxophonist, a first dance on a lit floor, and fireworks over the garden as the finale.
